We're excited! REC Farmers Markets has just announced that they'll be kicking off their season at the University Park Farm Stand with a Strawberry Festival! They'll be serving up strawberry shortcake, and we're sharing some of our favorite farmers market strawberry recipes that you can use with the berries you take home with you.
The strawberries are a little late this year - thanks, New England! - but they're juicy, tasty and bursting with real local flavor. In addition to the berries, you'll find lots of other locally grown produce and locally produced goods at the farm stand every Saturday. It's across from Clark University on Main St., on the bus line, and easy walking distance from downtown. There's also usually plenty of on-street parking along either side of the park.
Shout out to Flat's Mentor Farm, Schultz Farm, Black Seed Market and Oakdale Farm who will be offering local fruit, veggies, herbs, meat and eggs at the park, and a special mention to Crocodile River Band, who will be performing from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. Also - kids' activities and Zumba to keep everyone moving and active!
And now... on to the recipes!
