Yesterday, Worcester Food and Active Living Policy Council hosted its first ever Local Fall Harvest Pie Making Contest at the Food Day Celebration at Fuller Family Park.  Four contestants entered beautiful pies, vying for the most delicious, most attractive, most creative and most local pie.

A panel of three judges ranked the four pies on each of the categories of aesthetics, creativity and percent local ingredients, but it was up to the Food Day attendees to decide on which one tasted best.  Overall, the winner was Ali Reid, who’s pie “The Commonwealth” won hands down for the three judged categories, as a 100% local pie with most ingredients sourced to her own back yard.  It also featured the Worcester insignia.

The FALPC thanks all the participants and tasters, and hopes to have even more contestants next year.
